What Makes The Farm Special

Chosen by Condé Nast Traveler as the top family-friendly rental in Maine, Three Sisters Farm is what happens when an 1850s farmhouse is restored by people who love it. The original character — wide-plank floors, steep staircases, a screened porch that catches the afternoon light — lives alongside espresso machines, fast Wi-Fi, and a wood-fired hot tub under the stars.

Come in summer for lobster and kayaking, fall for the foliage and fireside evenings, winter for the snowshoeing and the quiet, spring for the farm coming back to life. It is equally at home hosting a multigenerational reunion, a friends’ getaway, or a small wedding weekend.

Set on eleven private acres of spruce forest and open field, Three Sisters Farm is a 3,200-square-foot 1850s farmhouse that sleeps 10–11 across five bedrooms, with two full kitchens, two living rooms, and a barn converted into a yoga and Pilates studio with a Peloton. A short third-mile walk leads to a pristine tidal cove — ideal for kayaking, paddleboarding, or simply keeping the rhythm of coastal life. There is room enough that different generations, and different moods, can each find their own corner. It makes a true four-season base for the Midcoast.

Where You’ll Gather

The farmhouse has space designed for both connection and quiet:

–     Two fully stocked kitchens with commercial-grade ranges — built for reunions, holidays, & lobster feasts.

–     Two living rooms, one with a gas fireplace for chilly nights.

–     A dining room that seats ten, for proper sit-down meals.

–     A screened porch with a Smart TV, for lazy mornings and movie nights.

–     An outdoor terrace with grill, dining, and lounge chairs.

–     A wood-fired hot tub and firepit, unforgettable under the stars.

–     A fenced yard with mature plantings — safe for children, easy for adults.

From marshmallows around the fire to an afternoon on the porch swing, the farm invites you to slow down.

Where You’ll Sleep

With five bedrooms, the farmhouse sleeps 10–11 comfortably.

–     Primary suite: king bed, en suite bath, private workspace.

–     Adjacent nursery room: twin bed and crib (walk-through to the primary).

–     Two upstairs guest rooms: one queen; one queen with a twin trundle. These share a large bath with a clawfoot tub.

–     Main-floor bedroom: queen with a nearby half bath — ideal for grandparents or anyone who prefers fewer stairs.

Note  Both staircases are original and steeper than modern builds, especially the one to the primary suite.

Activities & Games

The attached barn is always a favorite: ping-pong and a classic barn swing over the fields, cornhole and outdoor games, and an upstairs yoga / Pilates / Peloton studio. For outdoor adventure we provide kayaks, paddleboards, and a canoe (with life jackets), bikes for adults and kids, and open fields for play.

Maine Workcation? You're Covered.

The farmhouse has two dedicated offices and 270 Mbps Wi-Fi. One is set privately apart with its own entrance; the other sits off the dining room — ideal for keeping one eye on family life.

Why Guests Love Three Sisters Farm

Guests describe the farmhouse as “magical” — like stepping into a scene from Pride & Prejudice, but with Wi-Fi, espresso machines, and a Peloton. Families love the toys, cribs, puzzles, and books for little ones; groups appreciate the touches that make hosting easy — two kitchens, plenty of cookware, seating for ten.

Good to Know

–     Guests have full, private use of the farm and its eleven acres. The one exception: the old boat barn across the road isn’t structurally sound and is off-limits.

–     Traveling with little ones is easy — crib, high chair, two Pack ’n Plays, baby gates, a stroller, children’s dishes, and a generous supply of toys, blocks, and books.

–     Housekeeping is available for longer stays, and we’re happy to arrange fresh Maine lobster delivered to the door.

Kind Words From Our Guests

  • Our week was so relaxing and we look forward to a return.

"Mia's place was perfect for our family of 10. There were so many different places in the house, barn, and yard for all of us to enjoy. We joked that every day we discovered something new about this charming farmhouse. Mia is a wonderful host and very quick to respond and help in any way. Our week was so relaxing and we look forward to a return."

    — MAT

  • Can't recommend enough and hope to be back!

"Beautiful house for a big family gathering. Mia was an amazing host--sending local recs, keeping in touch with helpful info, and making us feel right at home! The house was well-appointed and comfortably accommodated our large group. Great kitchen for cooking, beautiful yard, so many toys and games for kids, and just a short walk to the water. Thank you for a great stay!! Can't recommend enough and hope to be back!"

    — ANNA

  • A magical and beautiful place to stay!

"Absolutely loved staying at Three Sisters Farm. We had a small family wedding here and it was the perfect place to get married. So grateful for the time we spent here and for Mia’s wonderful responsiveness! She even let us check in a little early so we could get everything set up for the ceremony. A magical and beautiful place to stay!"

    — EMILY

  • House is bright, clean and well decorated

"Full of amenities! Two kitchens stocked with cookware, four very comfortable bedrooms, dining room with a table big enough for all of us. Enjoyed most of the weekend on the screened-in porch and in the back yard around the fire pit, but there was plenty of space throughout the house to spread out and relax."

    — HADLEY

  • The kitchen is well supplied with anything you might need.

"Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay up in Maine for my sister’s 30th birthday with close friends. Easily accommodated a group of us and allowed us to all sleep in our own designated rooms for privacy. The finished barn was the best spot for games and good conversation. And the kitchen is well supplied with anything you might need for a perfect get away in Maine. Would love to see this place in the summer time. Thanks Mia!"

    — TAYLOR

  • This was the perfect weekend getaway for us.

"We were at a conference in Boston and the quiet 3 hour drive gave us just enough time to decompress before arriving. This place is wonderful. The rooms are beautifully yet comfortably furnished. The beds are all comfortable and nicely turned out with luxury linens and the bathrooms stocked with yummy soaps and shampoos. The two kitchens are fully stocked with everything a cook could ask for … we couldn’t believe it! We were only there for a weekend and definitely want to go back. It was such a perfect spot to relax and unwind but we didn’t have time to enjoy all the nearby attractions. Definitely looking forward to having a chance to make our way back to this terrific property!"

    — MARIA

  • A gem of a home in such a special corner of Maine.

"We stayed with friends and the layout of the home was just right to give both parents an en-suite bathroom with dreamy soft beds while having a sleeping situation that allowed the kids to be close by. The home feels a bit like stepping in time, and has been so well preserved and maintained. Incredible charm. So clean. And the barn is a special place! Mia was a fantastic host, can't thank her enough for her hospitality."

    — JOHNNY

  • This property is a treasure!

"We chose the perfect spot for a ladies getaway. We had a couple of damp days but the farmhouse was warm, cozy, quiet and charming. It offers so much space inside and out. We enjoyed a beautiful walk to the water. We cooked and baked and found everything we needed to do that. This property is a treasure!"
